Unsure on which course would be best

Hi all , I currently have a BTEC level 3 which helped me achieve an engineer position within automation, but I am looking into other courses which will aid me further throughout my career.

I am currently at a crossroad with courses as I am looking at either doing electrical installation (Hands on electrical) or do an HNC in engineering and possibly degree after. I know I do not plan on being an electrician but I know I will stay in automation industry

Any opinions / Advice would be greatly appreciated

Given that you "do not plan on being an electrician", what is the appeal of "electrical installation (Hands on electrical)"? Is it the hands-on (rather than academic) nature of the course?

Given that you "know I will stay in automation industry", the "HNC in engineering and possibly degree after" seems like a better fit to me.

thanks for the reply, but yeah the installation would be more for hands on with electrical installations which I currently work with electrics daily but more fault finding and replacing. I was just looking at which would further me more. but You answered that goof to be honest so thanks for the opinion

Hello @Xx_Sm4Sh3R_xX!

The comment from @DataVenia is sound advice. I completed a course similar to an HNC in Electrical Engineering overseas and I ended up studying Aerospace Engineering at University of Nottingham. If your plan is to remain in the automation industry, then a degree in Engineering would be a good choice. Since you also have practical experience with electrical installations I would suggest to look into courses that relate to Electrical and Electronic Engineering as you would study topics related to Control, Processing and Software Implementation, among other subjects.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask us.

All the best,
Abián.
