Can I apply through clearing if my results end up better than expected?

Hello. I've applied to do Biomedical Science with a Foundation Year because my predicted grades weren't super great however I managed to improve before my actual exams. I was wondering if my results end up better than expected, can I still go through clearing? Also, will contextual offers still apply if I go through clearing? For example, if the required grades are ABB but with contextual it's BBC, can I call with the grades BBC? Thanks x

Yes you can go through clearing if your results are better than expected. Once you're certain you want to reject your place then you can use the "decline my place" mechanism to put yourself in clearing. You may find it best to call up some potential clearing unis to see if they will give you a verbal offer first as this process is unreversible (although some unis will not give you an offer until you are in clearing)
Contextual offers may vary by the uni, however unis are sometimes more flexible with grades on results day so if you are within 2 grades of the required grades then it may be worth a call
Hi!

Firstly, best of luck with your exam results! I hope that with your efforts you get the grades that you want.

In relation to clearing, there should not be a problem with going through clearing but it is important that you call the University to discuss this. For example, it is advised that at the University of Kent, that the student not only applies for clearing but also calls up the University around this in order to get secure confirmation on clearing.

I hope this helps! - Brandon

Contextual offers dont apply in Clearing - its too complicated with everything moving so fast.

If you do get much better grades, your Firm Uni may switch you to the main degree anyway - or you could take a gap-year and apply to 5 new choices for 2025 entry (recommended).
