Struggling to pick a uni for clearing, I'm looking to study Accounting.

Hi,

If you take a look at the following link you will find the clearing grades for all degrees: Clearing vacancies - Lancaster University but for Accounting and Finance BSc Hons they are as follows:
Clearing A level grades: BBC
BTEC: Distinction, Distinction, Merit
GCSE requirements: English C/4, Mathematics B/6

Here is the link for clearing events both online and in person to give you a better idea and feel for Lancaster should you apply: Clearing events - Lancaster University

I don't study Accounting and Finance so can't comment on the course itself but I can give you some information that may help!

The degree is accredited by globally-recognised accountancy bodies:

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)

Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS)

Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

These accreditations provide graduates with exemptions from many core professional examinations, depending on your module choices, and mean, on graduation, you will be further along the route to qualifying as an accountant than many of your contemporaries!

If rankings are important to you, Lancaster is ranked top 10 in the Complete University Guide, 11th in The Guardian University Guide and 14th in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide. It has been awarded a Gold rating in the Teaching and Excellence Framework Too. In terms of Accounting and Finance, Lancaster is ranked 13th by the Guardian and 15th by the Times and Sunday Times.

The university has put out some informative videos about Accounting and Finance so take a look at them to give you a better idea:

Or just search "Lancaster University Accounting and Finance" into YouTube!

Lancaster is a campus university 3 miles south of Lancaster City Centre. The campus is full of green space and effectively it's own little town! The city itself is small but has everything you need but is only a 20 minute drive to the seaside of Morecambe, about 1 hour to the Lake District or Manchester and well connected to everywhere else in the country by both rail and car.

There are lots of videos put out by the university about the campus and city so here is a link to the Virtual Tour playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLm5Zzashz3KHnwlewU_srjjAltG8BdXQv&si=QYCgxD9EceL1A274

If there's anything else you'd like to know about Lancaster please do get in touch but I hope this helps and gives you an overview! Ella - Lancaster University Student Ambassador

Hi @minny53

It's great to hear that you're interested in studying at Manchester Met!

Our BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance is available in Clearing and, if you want to make an application, you can call our Clearing helpline on 0161 247 3000.

The course is based in our triple-accredited business school, which places us amongst the top business schools in the world and the course offers exemptions from ACCA and CIMA if you choose that pathway in year 3. We also offer the option to take a placement year or year abroad between year 2 and 3 if that's something of interest to you.

The uni is a 10 minute walk from Manchester City Centre and has lots to do in the area - be that restaurants, bars, clubs, parks, museums - anything you can think of, there's a place for it! It's a great place to live as well because we have a great transport system and it's easy to reach different parts of the city as well as other areas of the UK.

While you're still deciding, I recommend thinking about your life as a student as well as the course itself. Do you want to live in a city or town? How close to home do you want to be? Asking yourself these types of questions will help you narrow down which university is the right choice for you🙂

I hope this helps!

Chloe 😀
One of the biggest differences between the two is the vibe they give. Lancaster is much more of a campus uni, whereas Man met is right in the heart of the city.
