Can other Unis look at my application while I hold a place?

I hold an unconditional place at a uni that I am unsure of attending, and as clearing opens tomorrow I’d like to look around at other options. If I give my UCAS number over the phone to other institutions, will they still be able to view my application in full? Thank you

Hello,

Officially they should require you to be in Clearing in order to speak to you about a place. But, UCAS guidance also says:
- universities should provide reassurance to applicants whether they would be accepted or not before an applicant surrenders a place elsewhere

We expect most universities to be quite open to talking to you even if you aren't in Clearing but some universities may be inconsistent in this scenario.

Does this help?
Hi, thank you this is very helpful. I’ve found that already some unis that I’ve contacted already are quite open to letting me know whether they’d take me or not which is certainly taking off a bit of pressure. I do already have my grades tho which probably helps
I didn’t mean to say already this many times

Having your grades is a very good position to be in right now. Let us know how you get on, would be good to hear from you.
