Clearing Advice needed ASAP

I already have all of the Universities that I'm potentially gonna call (which one I will call depends on the results) on results day, and the clearing hotline number.

What else will I need for clearing??

Also, what things do I need to do to and after securing a place. Can anyone link a useful guide? Thanks in advance.

your results, your UCAS ID number (the 10 digit one), a good phone signal and battery, somewhere quiet to call from, a way to keep track of who you talk to and what they say

what do you mean keep track of who I talk to and what they say? So I should always get the persons name and write down exactly what they say? Or shall i record them or something

With a lot of phone calls it’s easy to misremember or misinterpret things.
Always ask for and write down the name and job title of who you’re speaking to (and the university), what they say and wherever possible ask them to confirm any instructions in writing by email.

Best of luck!
Fingers crossed you won’t need it and you’ll be accepted by your firm choice:wink:

Morning @WUGO

How are you? Good luck for today, no matter the results you should be so proud of yourself and all the hard work you've put in. I just wanted to check in and see whether you were calling up universities through Clearing? Do you have everything you need? Please let us know if you need any more advice on ringing universities/whether you still need any useful guides.

Hi @WUGO

You would need your grades, your UCAS ID and probably a pen and paper to take down any notes from the universities you are calling.

After you have received a place you should look into accommodation, travel and the area around the campus and halls/housing. Try to familiarise yourself with things such as the closest grocery stores, GP practices, fun activities etc., as you will come to need them once you get there! Also look into your finances (will you need to apply for student finance, will you need to get a weekend job?) as its very important to budget well.

If you plan to stay near home, the accommodation and travel won't be too much of a hassle but still look into the finance aspects!

Finally, from more of a social point of view, try to find the groups that have been created for your university through social media such as Facebook; it might help to loosen the nerves around having to make new friends.

Good Luck,
Tatyana (Student Ambassador at NU London)

Hey @WUGO,

Kingston University recommends that students have their UCAS Personal ID and details/a list of the qualifications they have to date - I imagine it's probably the same for most universities.

Hopefully you've already found a course that's right for you and secured your place - and congratulations on your results! I hope you have the best time settling in at uni in the coming months, and feel at home no matter where you've chosen.

Best wishes,
Eve (Kingston Rep).
