Surrey accommodation

Hi,

What accommodations are recommended?
I’m going to study psychology so maybe something not too far from that department?

Thanks!

In my opinion it’s worth the 10 minute walk to be on Manor Park . Try and get Daphne Jackson if you are getting band E also as it’s nicer and newer than others .
Hi! So Surrey uni is a bit different from some other unis in that when you apply for accommodation you apply for different types of room not which building etc. So the different room types are for different prices, so whether you want a budget room (smaller), a shared bathroom or an ensuite, an enhanced room (bigger) etc. These used to be called different bands (A-F).

Psychology is taught on the main campus (Stag Hill) which has all the different types of accommodation on. However, when you're applying for accommodation you could be put on Stag Hill campus or Manor Park unless you have a valid circumstance that you notify the university of as to why you need to be on Stag Hill.

Most people are in the same boat though and walk over from Manor Park. I think there's a larger percentage of the university accommodation there, but only veterinary students and healthcare students have teaching there. Manor Park does have some perks though, and yes in the rain walking between is a bit of a pain but there are regular bus' and the walk itself is pretty easy.

Lmk if you have any other questions, and this is the link to the accommodation website which might give you a better understanding https://www.surrey.ac.uk/accommodation/our-accommodation

Hi Anonymous #1,

Just to add to the conversation, there are a variety of accommodations available at Surrey at different price points, locations and preferences. The type of accommodation depends on what matters to you. Do you prefer an ensuite or don’t mind sharing a bathroom (etc)?

If you prefer to stay closer to your department, then I recommend the accommodation at Stag Hill Campus. They’re all about a stone’s throw away and a very convenient walk to your lecture rooms. It’s also a 10–15-minute walk to town/train station. You can find all the available accommodation options for that location there in this link here.

I personally lived in Manor Park and liked it there too. It’s slightly more modern compared to Stag Hill and about 15 20-minute walk from campus. It’s close to Tesco, Surrey Sports Park and the Hospital too. It’s about a 30-minute walk from Town (or a few minutes by the bus).

I have friends who have lived in both places and generally enjoyed it.

Overall, I recommend the accommodation that best suits your personal preferences. I hope that helps.

Kind Regards,
Britina
