Which Renewable Energy Engineering Master’s course would be best?

I’m based in the UK and have just graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in Physics. I'm interested in a career in renewable energy engineering and I’m currently looking at the following Master’s courses as the next step:

• Loughborough: "Renewable Energy Systems Technology"
• Manchester: "Renewable Energy and Clean Technology"
• Edingburgh: "Sustainable Energy Systems"
• Exeter: "Renewable Energy Engineering"

My goal is to fill in some of the gaps from my Physics course in terms of engineering material. Does anyone have experience with or thoughts on any of these courses? I'm looking for the more technical and engineering-heavy course rather than policy/economics. I’m currently leaning more towards Loughborough for it's CREST but I would love to hear anyone's thoughts on these courses. Thanks

Cranfield is very well known for its good quality courses and high employability. It is located between Milton Keynes and Bedford, and just 1 hour away from London.

Hi,

So I got offers from Edinburgh, Manchester Loughborough and Queen Mary’s but ended up accepting the offer from Loughborough as I felt the course material best aligned with my interests and the Uni has a dedicated centre for renewable energy (CREST centre). It’s also apparently the oldest course covering renewable energy engineering, They also offer 20% off the tuition fee if you have received a first in your undergrad and have micro placement opportunities in the summer which was quite a big advantage for me. Southampton, Imperial and Exeter also offer similar courses, but I didn’t apply to them in the end.

If you’re more interested in the electrical engineering side of things, I’d recommend the Manchester course as it seems to be the focus of it. I was debating primarily between Manchester and Loughborough since the content of the Manchester course seemed to cover more of what employers are actually looking for in candidates, however it doesn't seem to have much mechanical engineering content which I would have missed.

I start the course at Loughborough at the end of September and I can update you on what the course is like if that’s helpful.
