clearing advice needed

hello,
i’m not in the uk currently as i’m in holidays and won’t be back until 22 august so i won’t be able to call for clearing on the 15th. could i call them in the 22nd or will it be too late?

The majority of vacancies will be taken on Results Day.

Some Unis asking for low grades or with very unpopular courses may still have spaces after that, but if you do need Clearing, a better tactic would be to take a gap year, and reapply in September for 5 choices for 2025 entry that match your achieved grades.

Why can't you call?

Some unis use online applications rather than phone lines.

Depends on the course/uni, but there will be slim pickings by the 22nd.

Did you know this before deciding to go on holiday? It’s very common advice not to be on holiday during results day.

Will you have access to the internet?
Could someone you’re on holiday with buy you a phone card or credit so you can use your phone?

It will certainly be too late for the 'best' courses at the 'best' universities as these places will be snapped up within hours of students getting their results.

There will still be some places left by then. Hopefully you don't need to use Clearing. :smile:

Some universities will also have a live chat feature on their website so you can talk to someone about your options online if you are unable to call!
