Hi, so I actually didn’t do very well in my A level so I went through clearing. I am doing a foundation year in pharmaceutical science but will transfer after a year to do pharmacy if I pass. How was the foundation year for you? Does this mean that I can also transfer to a different University If I pass the foundation year. Also when transferring to a different Uni did they require your A level grades? And also congratulations to you!

First, thank you. It's ok you didn't do well in your A level it happens but as long as you learn from what you did wrong (unsuited study techniques, time management, workload etc...) That is what is important. The foundation year for me was not at all what I was expecting. I noticed the first semester although there was practically zero content learnt (it was writing a letter, some poster thing, class tests and some basic maths which I had fun with). My grades were on target, I believe this made everyone overconfident (which I feel was not good for the course). The second semester was much more content based however the modules were easy if you understood how they set exams. Unfortunately there is one module that this whole course is reliant on (orientation to pharmaceutical science). This course is the most important I recommend putting most effort here. They give you 2 attempts to write a lab report before your final one which was incredibly helpful. Now onto transferring. Yes you can, I applied to Aston and uob. I got an offer from uob however I will have to say it is up to you to put the effort in the interview and stuff. I done btec so having a levels I feel you should be ok. Any questions lmk thanks again for the question 😁 GOOD LUCK

Thanks you soo much for replying 😊, this was really helpful as I didn’t know what to expect on the course. Also were the teachers helpful and all? I actually messaged Aston if I would be able to transfer but they said my grades were too low, do u think things may differ when I actually pass and have done the year? In addition do u think wopverhampton is okay that it’s alright to do the pharmacy course at there uni ?

I'm going to be real with you some main lecturers can be rude and condescending, however majority are wonderful and very approachable. I don't believe you would get an offer from Aston unfortunately as I was in the same situation as you, but it's worth a try 😁. Listen to this, pharmacy as a course is accredited by the same organisation. This is a rare exception we're it genuinely does not matter we're you go as we all have to take the final test which is exactly the same (pre-reg test). 😁 Anything else let me know and if you need help with the course lmk aswell

Thank you! This has made me feel so much better. I think I had to be reminded that it doesn’t matter which Uni I go to, its the same degree I will be collecting. Also do u think its better to just have a laptop, or like both?

No joke I used just a pen and paper, I didn't really take notes in the lessons as I preferred to listen there and take notes on PowerPoints at home. I really hope you pass as there was probably 40 out of 200 or so remember first semester just do good get that average % around 80 then second semester focus MAINLY on orientation module. Il be checking back occasionally mid year so feel free to message me 😁

Oh okayy, thank you so much. When u say 40 is that people who passed in general or 40 that were enough to get onto pharmacy. And do I have to fill like an application if I pass to get onto pharmacy or am I automatically enrolled for the year? How did you also organise your study routine and manage revising? Sorry for the amount of questions.

Hi there, I am interested in what your experience was like and what you had to do in order pass. I’m also interested in what the structure of the course was like? I would love it if you responded as I think that your experience will benefit me greatly. Thanks!

Basically an infinite amount of people can progress to mpharm however I believe it's designed so a lot of people would fail. You also don't need to submit an application as they will do this for you automatically. For my organisation and revising routine I was relaxed for first semester as there was no content, trust me youl know what I mean. It's so easy. Second semester I would stay on top of the lecturers doing all the practice questions they gave me, these questions are so similar to the actual tests that I find it's the best course of revising. I would also rewatch the lectures and make notes on paper summerising them, this would take longer as they were prettyyy long. For the main module I made notes depicting everything, and I mean everything. I literally memorized all of the notes. I feel as if you are on top of your work it should be nice, however I would say that I order to achieve 75% I would recommend you try really hard in second semester. Any other questions lmk 😁
