Which is better and why in term of jobs (pros and cons)
Both are good in terms of being a somewhat relaxing job, nice 9-5 which is smth you wouldn't typically get in other healthcare fields. Dentistry does require higher grades however and the jobs involved earn higher pay too. Optometry does entail high paying jobs but those are further down the line and require more qualifications such as PHDs ect. The initial job of an optometrist (after completing undergrad) just isn't as high as being a dentist.
From my own experience, I'd say it all come down to which of the two you enjoy more. This time last year I was considering both fields and wondering which one to take ( I was very indecisive). I tailored my work experience towards healthcare as finding specific experiences was difficult but eventually I got experience from the best place possible - Moorfields Eye Hospital. I'm still a volunteer there today and made many friends who ranged from nurses to optometrists and eye doctors. Basically it was my experiences in each field that led me to choose optom bcs know my dream is to someday work at Moorfields as an eye doctor diagnosing and helping find cures for all the peculiar yet cool eye diseases out there.
Idk if that essay answered your question 😭 but I'm hoping to go to uni this year and I chose optom ✧\(>o<)ノ✧
