For English Language and Literature, you absolutely HAVE to watch Mr Salles and MrEverythingEnglish videos on YouTube on your chosen topics/books. They're incredibly helpful and helped me go from a 3 to a 9 in my mocks. The best tip from there is to write a lot of explanations for each point.
So basically, if the question is worth 8 marks, you should write 8 explanations. So you start each answer with a main point, so an example from a past paper would be "how do the writers convey attitudes towards sweets?" You start your answer with a amin point, e.g. "both writers present the sweets to be quite appealing and desirable to the children" or something lake that. You then add in a quote from one of the sources/poems and analyse the quote, bso you look for any language methods or techniques (you should've probably learnt them by now but it helps to revise them). Up till now you haven't really gained any marks, you get marks for ANALYSIS. Here, you zoom in on a word in the quote and say "this word shows us that..." or if it's a technique "this method (e.g. simile/metaphor/hyperbole) implies that..." and then write an explanation. Then for each word you analyse, try to write about 2-3 different explanations, so if the question is worth 12 marks, you have to write "this shows/implies/suggests" about 12 times, and write an explanation. You don't need 12 quotes, just maybe 4 small quotes with 3 explanations for each. The explanations of course need to be good, but usually anything is good enough. So in short just try to write as many explanations as there are marks and you'll probably start getting more marks quite easily. 👍🏻

Secondly, you can add the effect on the reader which you could generally wing. There is a great video from MrEverythingEnglish that explains it quite well but in short, try to make it have more meaning, so going back to the sweets question, you could say after you explanations that "This choice of metaphor also presents the sweets as a nostalgic treat to the reader and makes the reader relate more to the writer's own experience" or something like that.

Further explanation: so you writer the quote, zoom in on a word/method, and say "this word/method shows that..., but it could also imply that..., while some might suggest it means..." and here are your three explanations! Easy peasy.

Alright, now on to Maths. I also do EdExcel Maths Higher, so I absolutely feel you. It's a pain. But the thing is, the Maths is really easy to understand, it's just the way the questions are worded that throws me off. So first of all if you don't understand a topic, watch a video from cognito/mathsgenie or ask your teacher to explain it quickly. But the most important thing is practice. Everyday, do a Maths past paper first thing in the morning, it only takes about 1hour 15min, and then grade it with the markscheme. Physics and Maths Tutor is an amazing website. It has all the past papers and markschemes/model answers but just check that they are Higher Tier. This will probably be all the revision you have to do for maths as you will learn from grading your paper, watching videos and asking your teacher if you still don't fell confident enough.

Oh yeah a very general tip would be to check the specification for each of your subjects as it outlines everything you need to know for the exams. Also, Physics and Maths Tutor has past paper for a lot of subjects and allot of notes and mindmaps so do check it out even for English and essay subjects.

Got maths as well, just writing the method or writing an equation and substituting in the numbers can get you most marks, so even if you don't understand a question, try to at least write out the formula and do something with it, you'll probably get a few marks.
I'm sorry about all the typos I'm typing as quickly as possible haha.

For science past papers are your BEST FRIEND. Do as many as you can early on, make note of the questions you get wrong so you can revise their topic later/learn the answers. You can watch videos from cognito or freesciencelessons. They're amazing. A lot of people like to use CGP books and revision guides but I don't use them that much, the textbook is fine. Obviously understanding the content is important, so make sure you understand each topic and then go do past paper questions on it so you can then sort of filter out what topics are hardest/easiest so you know what to revise. A lot of people also use flashcards, I don't really use them but they're available on Physics and Maths Tutor and Quizlet soo.

Unfortunately i don't do any of your other subjects but I'm sure there is a lot of advice for them online. For design heard that you just have to follow the specification and add every single point they ask for in you project. So dont try to actually make it the best piece of work possible, just do what it says on the spec and you'll be sound. BTW that's just what I've heard so obviously you know better.
I just want to remind you that there is still time to make it all go as you want and it's great you're thinking about what/how to revise as early as now so be proud of yourself. Just keep this up and stay motivated, every minute of work you do now will pay off later and you'll be able to relax allll summer. ☀️

What shall I do to get my potential grade 9 on cognito because I’m a visual learner and don’t like cop or textbooks as well it hurts my brain with too many information on their.

You should study the best way for you.... If you find cognito the best then go for it but also make sure you familiarize yourself with the mark schemes and do lots of past papers... It may help to try and figure out where the marks come from before you look at the mark scheme and then look to see if you were correct (this is generally good for every subject and anything but some may not like it due to their style of studying which is fine)

That is dependant on you and only you
You have to figure out the best way you revise
Whether it's at night or in the morning
Whether in large chunks of time or smaller
Whether you need several breaks in between or not
Can you revise with white noise - does it help you concentrate or distract you
Do you need water next to you
Do you learn better with flashcards and mind maps or with notes
Do you learn better using websites or textbooks
Do you learn better using your tablet or laptop or on paper
What is the best way you can memorize stuff...
It is different for everyone
You have to figure out your way and it won't be like anyone else's...
You have to identify your weaknesses and strengths and focus on improving your weaknesses while maintaining your strengths.
Put easy goals to achieve your objectives. For example, you want a 9 in English and right now your getting a 6, focus on getting a 7 then maintaining it then improving it to an 8 And so forth.
Hope that helped 😀

Hi! Sorry to hear you’re struggling with GCSEs. I’m in year 12 going into year 13. Here are my tips and I’ll probably need to write multiple replies to this because I’ll cover each subject briefly (the ones I did) and I’ll give some study advice.

For English language:

. I didn’t do Edexcel so I’m not too sure of the format, but the best thing is to practice the question types you struggle with the most. For example I struggled with structure questions (AQA) so I focused on those.
. Practice the writing section if it is your weak point.

For English lit:
. I would definitely recommend Mr Salles YouTube videos. I found them incredibly helpful as they helped me write about context of the text (remember always refer to context of the text e.g what happened in the era it was written in that may have influenced the writing).
. Practicing is key for English lit, once I started writing as many practice essays as I could to prepare for any eventuality I definitely saw my grade increase to above grade 4. It’s a good thing to revise quotes, but just knowing a whole bunch of quotes is useless unless you know how to apply them or how you will use them in a question.
. I found making mindmaps or revision sheets which were specific to certain characters or themes very useful.

Maths
. Don’t fret too much about your grade. I was at grade 4 foundation near the end of year 10 and my final result was grade 8 higher.
. Try to identify your weakest areas. Then prioritise these to focus on.
. I would recommend doing Corbett Maths 5 a day just to keep your maths sharp.
. Practice, practice and practice! Past papers and exam style questions here are your best friend.
. Do targeted questions based on your grade. You don’t want to be doing too easy or repetitive questions, so don’t just passively do all the questions in your textbook like a robot. It’s probably good to make a goal for the study session e.g write down specific questions and topics you’ll focus on.
.I would recommend The GCSE Maths Tutor YouTube channel.

Science
. I would really recommend flashcards. Make sure they have questions on one side answers on the other. Even better if these questions are from past papers you have done or specification points as they will help drill in the nitty details that mark schemes want.
. Identify your weak areas! And focus on them!
. Past papers!

If you’re a visual learner definitely use Cognito! I would also include a lot of diagrams in your notes and maybe mind maps as well if it helps! Cognito platform also has past paper questions organized by topic!

I agree with @Mireya01, it is definitely a good thing to work out which times of day are best for you to study. Try to declutter your study environment and remove distractions.

And I agree with small steps at a time, trying to aspire for a grade 9 immediately will likely lead to burnout. Focus on small improvements and celebrate them.

look on ebay for notes! There are quite a lot of character analyses for Macbeth + J&H and a lot of poetry anthologies available! I found these a lot more easier to use than textbooks x

aim to memorise these with spaced repetition
