International Student Cambridge vs Oxford Mathematics

Hello, I'm an International student applying undergraduate math at either oxford or cambridge. I took the STEP test one year early and received a score of 1/ 1. How likely am I to get accepted to Cambridge assuming that the rest of my application (AP, Personal Statement, Predicted Grades, Reference Letter, etc) is decent. Also will my step score have an influence on my chances on oxford (math & cs joint degree)?

If you have already received a 1,1 score, then you would be in a fairly strong position. It's not a guarantee but you would definitely have a fair shot. Just note that some colleges may request you to sit STEP again in the year that you apply. This may not be every college so it may be worth emailing some colleges to check.

For Oxford, whilst it wouldn't form part of your offer, it may demonstrate ability which may help your application.

Congratulations on a fantastic STEP result! The fact that the standard STEP offer for Maths is 1,1 suggests that you would fair well with an application to Cambridge if the other elements of your application are strong. I don't know if there is greater competition among international students though. Do you have a preference for college? Be aware that Trinity has a reputation for being particularly tough to get into.

For Oxford, I guess you know that you would need to take the MAT test as part of their admissions process?

Best of luck with your application!
