Change later or no?

I've gotten a place at Uni of Leeds studying History and Sociology, but am unsure if I still want to study History. If I keep the place will I be able to change my course to just Sociology after I've started? Or will this be difficult?

hey there :hugs:
congrats on your place at Leeds, that is awesome - well done! :rave:

With the course, I would definitely take some time to figure out if it's really what you want to do. This is because it can be really tricky to be motiviated/attend lectures and do well in exams if your interest/heart isn't in the course. You do study it for 3-4 years so it's a fair amount of time/money. make sure you're happy with your choice!

If you're unsure, check out the forum for university of leeds, history courses and sociology as this could help you make your decision.

with the course, it will probably be more difficult. You need to make sure you have the right pre-requisites e.g.: the right A level grades + subjects for sociology. Re: changing to sociology after starting, check out the Uni transfer FAQ here:https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1781424

Best wishes,

You might be able to change when you there with little stress but this will depend on how long you leave it, if they have space on the course and if the modules line up. Give them a call next week and chat to them if the best advice, they won't mind you asking about changing courses 🙂 Have you looked at other unis for a similar course or are you set on there? 🙂
