Asking for deferral at Edinburgh

I just got accepted into Edinburgh with my predicted grades (the required grades) to study Philosophy & Theology, however I want to defer as I am an athlete and want to make the national team next year, but due to circumstances with training if I go to Edinburgh I will essentially have to quit. If I ring them and explain this/get in touch is there a likelihood that they will consider my request of a deferral?

I emailed the admissions team and they deferred my request very soon after!

I'm requesting right now, I didn't hear back from them for DAYS after I first enquired, pray for me

I applied on results day and didn’t hear back for a week (they say they’ll take 5 days) so I called (now that they’re less busy because when you call on results day they say it’s not a priority and if you call when it’s not busy they’ll actually deal with it then) and he said he’d get back to me and they changed my offer within the hour

Wow. Maybe I should call too, because the email they sent pretty much said I shouldn't expect the deferral unless my circumstances are ✨️exceptional✨️. Can I ask which course you applied for?

Probably a bit late reply now lol but philosophy and theology, what happened with your offer?

*extenuating circumstances* got the deferral. Otherwise they told me to take my place this year under all circumstances.
