When do I have to confirm my insurance by?

Was unsuccessful with my Cambridge application but am being put into the Summer pool. They'll get back to me tomorrow about whether I have a place at a different college. But i was accepted for my insurance choice and im wondering can i wait until cambridge get back to me to make any changes or confirmations about my insurance choice?

Yes, that's totally fine to do
advice would be to keep going as if you are going to your insurance uni, and if the summer pool turns out successful then it's a nice surprise!

Hi, is this the standard pool or the reconsideration pool?

I'd hoped they might have made standard pooling decisions before results day but maybe not :dontknow:

But when Cambridge make a decision, one of two things will happen:
They'll confirm your place and you'll get into your firm
They will unfortunately not confirm your place and you'll be confirmed at your insurance

You don't need to do anything in the meantime but wait for Cambridge to make their decision and keep as calm as you can!
How long is my insurance Uni place valid if I have to wait 4 days for the pool result? will they hold until Cambridge make a decision?

The insurance choice will stay there yes, they've made you an offer and they are bound by that original offer as long as you have met the conditions of it?

Mr Fez reliably informs me that the pool decisions should be out tomorrow afternoon rather than in 4 days, that sound right?

Have been told by Cambridge it could take up to close of play on Monday to get a decision, so until i am offerred or rejected by my first choices the 2nd(insurance choice) will hold in the background?

Yes, just like they haven't been doing since you selected insurance and firm
Could be Monday, we are expecting more like tomorrow afternoon hopefully though
thank you!

Ah yes it's possible that it will be tomorrow PM but actually yes, people in the standard summer pool could potentially find out on Monday PM.

In any case, your insurance place will be held in the event that Cambridge aren't able to offer you a place from the pool

Sorry for my question, how and when does one gets unsuccessful with Oxbridge application and put into summer pool? Was it A level results based? Apologies that I can't offer anything constructive in this.

So at Cambridge there are two pools in the summer:
The summer pool, which is for applicants who receive an offer in January, don't quite meet it, but their details get shared with other colleges to see if another college would like to take them as a near miss.
The reconsideration pool, which is for applicants who are not made an offer in January, are from a widening participation background of some sort, and do end up getting the grades. They get a second go at applying to Cambridge, if they'd like, on the morning of results day, and if made an offer can choose between Cambridge and their existing firm.

Oxford I don't really know how they deal with these things, but this is the Cambridge forum

Ahh, thanks for the explanation.

I am considering Oxford though it very much depends on my UCAT results.

Apologies for sidetracking the main topic away from OP - wishing you all the best and hopefully Cambridge has a place for you!
