Verbal offer from Plymouth

I received a verbal offer through clearing for Plymouth’s biomed foundation year course. I just want to make sure, is my place now secured as long as I quickly apply at 1PM? Or are there further checks they need to do, such as any extenuating circumstances criteria that I need to meet in order to gain entry to the course

Yes it is - you've got Plymouth in the bag :awesome:
They should have told you how long they'll keep the place open for you, often it's a couple of days.

But if you're happy with Plymouth then add them on this afternoon, your place will not disappear if you add them as a Clearing choice this afternoon

That's great to know. Additionally I was wondering if you knew approximately how long they should usually take to give me an offer on my UCAS?

What does your UCAS Hub page currently show?

Responses will come through in batches usually, hopefully confirmation should come through today. Worst case scenario would be tomorrow morning. If you haven't heard by 2:30pm Friday I would ring up again to check.

Alright, to be honest as long as there’s no chance of them saying no all of a sudden then I’m happy

Hey I just completed Biomed foundation year! If you have any questions let me know!
It would really surprise me if they did. When I've seen this occur in the past (and I'm talking once every 2 years) it's been an accident, human error.

Oh it very diverse I’d say, just in my course alone there was many different people and ages do in that sense it’s nice!! Socially it really depends what you like there’s different things to do and meet people! Nightlife is okay just makes it better when you have a good connection with people

hi i was wondering how the course is assessed, and what the split is between practical learning and being in lectures.

hi i was wondering how the course is assessed, and what the split is between practical learning and being in lectures.

Hey so it all depends on the module, there are 6 modules to complete :

>mod one - Is an exam and course work
>Mod two - if 4 presentations on a topic that’s you can choose in the subject you are placed in with group
>Mod three - is exam and coursework
> Mod four - is exam and poster presentation with group
>Mod five - is essay and coursework
>Mod six - is 4 project you complete as a group and a small introduction presentation to your study

This year was full of presentations and coursework more than exam, everything is waited at 50% which you will see on your transcripts when you enroll!

Lectures are not everyday you will have classes around 4 days a week but they are short session for example

Monday - 4 hours of lecture
Tuesday-4 hours plus practical session
Wednesday- day off
Thursday- 2 hours in the morning and small group session in the evening
Friday - maybe 4 hours maybe day off

That was one of my time table last academic year! The practical session are normally after the lectures that are about it and you have full guidance with either the PhD students or lectures themselves!

So I’d say practicals ones or twice a week depending on the modules and then rest is mostly lectures! But also have in mind timetabling will always change so what I had may not be what you have!

Hi

Hi there! Plymouth is a diverse city and university. There are people studying with us from a range of backgrounds, areas, international students, ages, and more. There are plenty of societies and events to meet likeminded people and welcome week is a great chance to get involved with our friendly and diverse university community.

The student experience and social life at Plymouth is exceptional, with plenty of events run year round by the UPSU and university to keep students entertained and to enhance your time studying with us, from trips to attractions, to movie nights, club nights, live music, fairs, inflatable nights, and more. Check out our UPSU page for more information about what's on offer! 🙂

Best of luck!
