A level history results disappointed :(

I'm not sure why I'm feeling this way, I got an A*AB. The B was in history which out of my three subjects I did the best on in my mocks and I would get A*s in everything but thr marks for my papers are so much lower, like for example russia dn it's rulers I'd get in the 60s and 70s out of 80 but my results show I was only able to get 42. I'm not sure why I feel so disappointed, any advice???

Get a remark.

Also, consider retaking History and perhaps also pickup Maths and/or Psychology in 1 year self taught with online resources.

I can send you the eBooks for Maths and Further Maths. 🙂

I appreciate how worried you are about this and the concerns you have about your results but your grades are really great so well done for pushing through it :hugs: Is your next step Uni?

You can always speak with your exams officer/ trusted teacher and see if you can get exam papers back - this will help you to understand what happened?

I agree with Cheese, get your papers back on priority (for most exam boards this is free) and have a look through the marking. It's possible that it hasn't been added up correctly or similar, in which case you could send it back for a review of marking (where they check things like that).
Are your next steps confirmed?

Maths has 60% A*/A pass rate and the mark schemes are similar each year.

Couldn’t the high pass rate be because the only people who would ever choose to take maths are really good at it? Most other people seem to hate it and wouldn’t choose it.

Yes contact your teachers for a priority copy of your script, I believe that needs to be ordered asap (next couple of days) so do it today if possible

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear that some of your results weren't what you were expecting. If it is any consolation, the grades you have achieved are fantastic, so you should feel proud of yourself for those!

As it has been mentioned, you can always get your papers back and get a remark to try and understand why the grade wasn't what you were expecting.

What is your next step now that you have your results? Are you heading to university, or do you have other exciting plans?

Isabella 🙂

Hey @Frxstyx I just wanted to check in and see how you were feeling now? I hope you are feeling more proud of yourself now instead of disappointment, I know it can be so upsetting not getting the grade you wanted, but you have done absolutely amazing, please believe that and the rest of the comments when we say how well you have done! Have you had chance to speak to your school and see if you can get your papers?

I hope you are able to lean on your family or friends today for emotional support. Are any of your friends feeling the same way that you can talk to? Do you have anything nice planned this week to look forward to?

Wishing you all the best for the future, you've got this!

Becky

Hi @Frxstyx

I hope your feeling a bit better after all these positive messages. You should be really proud of your results, they are absolutely excellent! However I completely understand that not hitting your own personal goals can have quite an emotional impact. Personally I was in a similar situations with my A-levels and it's hard to not feel disappointed when you achieved high across the 2 years, only to get graded lower on the real exam. However it's important to learn, which I also learnt, that what you have actually achieved is still exceptional and your grades do not define you at all.

I hope your doing better now, congratulations on your results!
