thinking about resitting alevels

I applied for dentistry with predicted grades A*AA but got no offers due to my UCAT score. I was planning on finishing my alevels and then reapplying for the next year but unfortunately my exams didn't go well at all and I've wound up with CCC. I'm thinking about resitting my alevels but my sixth form unfortunately won't be able to support me through that. I'm at a point where I don't really know what to do now and I'm looking on advice for what the best next steps to take are :/

Focus on attempting as many past exam paper questions as you can and making notes from the mark schemes and examiner reports. Because 1000s of candidates retake each year and do this and improve from Es and Us to A*/A.

Campbell Harris usually has about 2000 Private Candidates each year.

Don't be disheartened with CCC - you can still go to university with those grades! Have you considered doing another course? -Samantha
Talk to your school about resitting - if you want this badly enough you can still do it.

Hello,
I am so sorry you were not able to achieve the grade you needed to get into dentistry, I understand you must feel disheartened.

Are there any other fields of interest you might have? It is important for you to know that you can still get into a university with a grade of CCC, unfortunately, you will probably be offered an alternative course instead of dentistry. Please consider this as an option if you are comfortable.

If you are determined to resit your A-Levels there should be sixth forms that will accept your admission, but it is important that you contact them quickly so you can make a decision.

I hope that whatever option you choose will make you happy.

Hi @rjmoon,

Falling short of your predicted A-Level grades can be disheartening, but it's important to remember that they're not always a true reflection of your potential - we all have bad days and bad exams. If your heart is set on studying dentistry, CCC is a solid foundation to build upon if you choose to re-sit. Consider taking the exams as a private candidate or getting in contact with another local sixth form and asking for their assistance (especially with the more practical elements of the science A-Levels).

If you're flexible about your choice of subject, you could consider looking at courses in Clearing that still fall under the medical profession as a whole, such as nursing or pharmacy. 96 UCAS points should be enough to get you a place on some of these courses, and you can always look at Foundation Years as an option as well.

Hope this was helpful, and best of luck!
Eve (Kingston Rep).
