Why do unis dislike GCSE resits?

I’ve been looking at different university every requirements and many don’t accept resits.

What is the reasoning for this? To me, if you took longer to achieve a high grade, why aren’t you just put below people who did the same a the first time, instead of it being COMPLETELY disregarded?

Thanks

Where have you got this info from - and which Unis are you referring to?
Usually GCSE resits are not a problem at all.

As an example, this is a statement from KCL:

“We will only consider resits if there are significant mitigating circumstances affecting your first 'sitting'”

Is that specifically GCSEs - or just A levels?

It is for “all relevant qualifications”, which I take to be GCSEs, but it doesn’t explicitly mention it

Check with KCL but usually this only applied to A levels etc.

For all the other Unis I have worked at, including RG etc, GCSE resits are fine.
