Redefine your future, skip Clearing and apply directly

Hey everyone! 👋

Congratulations to everyone who received their exam results today!

We know that today can be an emotional rollercoaster with lots of options to consider. Remember, your exam results don't define your future. No matter what happens, you've got plenty of choices ahead.

If things didn't quite go to plan for you, we have a pressure-free alternative to Clearing to help you secure your future with one of our distance learning degrees. Whether your results surprised you, you're rethinking your choices, a smoother path awaits with direct application to LIBF.

We simplify things by accepting direct entry applications only. Here’s how to apply:

- Explore our degrees: explore our online undergraduate degrees or master’s courses and find your perfect match. We offer a wide variety of degrees in business, management, data, finance, IT, and computing—including popular courses like Computer Science.

- Apply direct: Fill in the course application form online—it's quick and easy.

- Get personalised support: Our admissions team will review your application and reach out to discuss your next steps, making the process smooth and straightforward.

And if you have any questions or just need some advice, our Study Advisors are here for you in the coming days - https://bit.ly/4ccQHGq

Edit: You’ll see LIBF mentioned in this post. We’re now Walbrook Institute London, reflecting our growth into new subjects like business, AI, and cyber security.

Just so everyone seeing this is aware of the process, if you apply directly to a university they will then fill in the details to UCAS on your behalf, UCAS will stop your account from being able to press any buttons essentially.

So while it can be easier if you DEFINITELY know you want to go to that uni no matter what, it doesn't leave you with many other options should you change your mind. The Student Room volunteers encourage applicants to be very careful if considering a direct application to any institution. Usually, it's in your best interest to keep it in UCAS.

My personal recommendation to students is to use UCAS, generally applying directly through universities is in the universities interest & not the applicants.

It will effectively mean you forfeit the opportunity to consider all your options in clearing. Universities will generally always also allow you to apply the conventional route in clearing (im not aware of any place that doesn’t).

The only time id consider this is if you have ZERO interest in any other university, and even then id probably still say go through UCAS so you don’t peg yourself in.

Hi 😊

Thank you both for your helpful advice! While that’s generally true, I wanted to clarify how things work at LIBF - as we do things a bit differently!

At LIBF we offer students the opportunity to start on any day of the year. Because we're more flexible than almost all other institutions and students don't have to follow the standard application cycle, you can't apply to us through UCAS. This also means we don’t share your application with them until you enrol, so you can apply directly to LIBF without impacting any existing offers or losing the opportunity to go through UCAS Clearing.

I hope this clears things up! If you have any questions, I’m here to help.

Thanks, Becky

It would save confusion if you stated clearly on your post that your degrees are all only available through distance learning. Especially as that also impacts on the funding available to applicants too.
Also using the word Clearing (proper noun referring to a specific part of the UCAS application system) when you aren’t part of UCAS application system is a little misleading. If TSR volunteers who understand UCAS and Clearing inside out are confused by your post then imagine how a 17 year old might misunderstand what you are trying to say:smile:
