I got some strange results and I'm kind of stuck

I got:

Computer Science ---> D
EPQ ---> A*
Maths ---> B
Physics ---> D

total UCAS points I think is like 116 (I'm not sure and cba to check)

I'm taking a gap year anyways but getting 2 Ds was NOT part of my plan. I wanted to initially take a computer science course at university but as of now I'm a little bit shocked I'm honestly not really sure what direction I go for and if computer science is the course for me. Anybody in a similar situation or have any advice for me?????

Talk to your school about getting remarks today - and if that doesn't change anything, resit those two D grades.

Uni will still be there in a year's time, and if you dont attempt a resit, you will always wonder what might have happened next if only you had.

You can ask your school to request your exam scripts so that you teachers can take a look at them and decide if it's worth a review of marking.

Firstly, congratulations on your A-level results! You should be proud of yourself, and even if your grades weren't what you expected - you still performed really well, so well done.

I have just checked using the UCAS tariff, and yes I believe you have 116 UCAS points.

As for what to do next - there are plenty of options. As people have already mentioned here, you could consider resitting Computer Science and Physics if you feel as though you could have performed better in them.

It sounds like you are passionate about Computer Science, but that this has caught you off guard - it's completely normal to doubt whether the course will be for you at university when you don't meet your own expectations. However, it's also important to remember that you will be taught different modules in university to what you were taught at A-level, and you might prefer them and perform better in them.

With 116 UCAS points, you still have many university choices available. I'd take some time to research the universities that you are interested in, factoring in all of the things that are important to you - modules, accommodation, clubs/societies, student support, careers opportunities/placement years.

Best of luck with which path you choose next, and give yourself a pat on the back for the grades you have achieved!

I got the marks and I don't think it's wise for me to get a remark because all my marks are too far off the next grade

No problem at all!

Yes, definitely! Looking at the modules is a great way to determine whether the course and university in general is right for you - the last thing you want to do is study a course with modules that don't interest you.

You might also want to consider whether you'd like to do a placement year to gain some practical, hands-on experience. In which case, you should be able to see whether this is offered by the university when you are reviewing the course modules.

Hi @youssefsidhom

If I were you, I would look into the courses and unis I am interested in attending. If these are exclusively requiring higher grades than you currently have, then I would potentially resit the A levels you got Ds in. Alternatively, I would look into unis that offer foundation years before their 3 year undergraduate degree. At the University of Law, you have the required grades to apply for the foundation programme which would mean doing an additional year to graduate with a BSc in Computer Science. Good luck!
