Declined conditional offer at imperial - MA

Mechanical Engineering Imperial Conditional offer; 1A* (maths), 3 A’s

Grades; Physics A*, Maths A*, Product Design - disputed A (one mark off A* - tutor think paper was undermarked by 7 points so having it remarked). Further Maths B.

Has anybody got any knowledge that if I can increase my results to 3 A*’s and 1B how likely they would reconsider my application, considering I would score more points than the conditional offer grades.

I'm sorry but looking at the course page on the Imperial website, you have technically achieved the entry requirements already, so I don't quite understand what the problem is. Did they decline you or did you decline Imperial?

You have to meet the conditional offer requirements to be accepted so they withdrew the offer. As mentioned, the personal conditional offer requirements weren’t met

Imperial doesn't use UCAS points. Your grades technically already meet the entry requirements as set out in the website (the A*A*A), even if they were not the requirements of your offer. I would email Imperial admissions and ask because I'm baffled. Maybe they don't like that B in Further Maths?
Following this one to see why they rejected you...looking at the website you meet the criteria so very interested to see if you can get a reason as to why they declined you.
A*A*BB is two grades below the offer received so explains the rejection.

Only the uni can tell you whether one successful re-mark would make them reconsider. If you’re that close then it’s worth pursuing in any case.

OP states they achieved A*A*AB - the "disputed A" is that it might be an A* instead of an A.

A*A*A is an acceptable set of grades according to the Imperial website

Imperial often offer on 4 A levels, I read the OP as their offer was A*AAA and they achieved A*A*AB, hence not meeting the requirements?

They have not met the requirements of their 4 A-level offer, but had they been issued the 3 A-level offer they would have achieved the requirements. Which leaves their position in terms of reapplying a bit unclear.

Ah sorry I was reading it as would they reconsider it under the "must meet grade requirements by 7th September" rules for this year's entry.

I can't recall for Imperial specifically but a couple of the London unis state that taking 4 subjects should not reduce the grades received and hence the 4th subject grade expectation was still an A so I don't think the 3 grade offer would apply unfortunately

I misread their third grade, apologies.

Even with A*A*A*B they won’t have met the terms of their offer. Some unis consider equivalencies for near miss scenarios, but it’s not mandatory. As above, I’d put in for the remark and let them know if the grade goes up. It’s completely at the unis discretion though.

The requirements on the website don't always match the offers people get. They're a guideline for the minimum. Imperial often give people crazy offers like 4A*

You need to call Imperial college, tell them the situation and ask if they hold the case for you. Another example at Uni of Edinburgh for Bio medical subject, Uni agreed to wait till 31st Aug for remarking result. Best of luck to you. Do call them today, don't wait.

Exactly OP needs to call and email admissions to see if there’s any leeway or if the remark makes a difference
