How do I apply for maintenance loan?

My SFE account looks really weird. There is no option at all to apply for maintenance loan. To clarify, I only qualify for postgrad loan as I’ve already done my undergrad. Do postgrad students not get any maintenance loan help?

Hi there. Can you confirm the name of the postgraduate course you are studying? Thanks, Leah.

No I’m not applying for postgrad tuition loan. Just maintenance loan, if that’s possible. Technically, I am redoing my undergrad bc I dropped out of my previous course. So I do not qualify for tuition fee loan but would really help if I can apply for maintenance loan, which I have not had before.

Sure, it’s for biomedical science at LSBU for sept 2024(3 years)

A bit of context:

Given the duration of course +1 extra year rule, I was told by an SFE advisor before that when I enrol to uni again I will qualify for student loan for my 2nd and 3rd year only. (I’ve had two years on my previous course.)

I’ve never applied for maintenance loan before and as I am self funding this year, I thought it would be a very big support for me if I qualify.

Thanks. So it's 2 year of previous study you have then? And do you hold a qualification? Thanks, Jason

Yes two years. No degrees. Just the foundation year diploma

Hi there. Your previous study would not have an effect on your Maintenance Loan entitlement. The information you shared above regarding your previous study and entitlement is correct. You should be able to request a Maintenance Loan. Can you check online and ensure you have not started a Postgraduate application instead of the correct Undergraduate route? Thanks, David

I’ve checked, but it does not let me apply for undergrad loans at all. Under it, it says “There are currently no undergraduate applications available.”

Hi there, We would therefore advise to contact us so we can look into why you are unable to apply online. Thanks, Angela

Thank you. I’ll keep trying your phone, as I know your team is very busy this time of the year 🥲. Can I just ask, would it be worthwhile to fill out and the send the paper form application while I wait?
