LSBU or Birkbeck for biomed?

I know a lot of people love to come to threads like this and hate on certain unis, but please I am asking for kind and genuine opinions. 🙏

I have clearing offers for LSBU biomedical science but also Biomedicine at Birkbeck University? Which one is good for someone who is looking to do graduate entry medicine in the future?
For example, when I look some GEM uni entry requirements, some have not listed Biomedicine as degrees they accept (e.g. King’s), while biomedical science is definitely listed OR “a science degree that is 2/3 biomed”.

I’m liking Birkbeck because they are giving a very flexible option so I can work full time and study, but I am concerned whether Biomedicine is acceptable in GEM courses. Considering how competitive they can be, I want there to be no room for doubt for the next 3 years. Would appreciate any constructive feedback on what would be a good choice. Thank you!

I am also in a similar situation as yourself where I have been given a clearing offer from Birkbeck university to study Biomedicine. I am also hoping to then go onto do a graduate entry into Dentistry in the future. I have looked heavily into this before making a decision and when speaking to many people at Birkbeck, they reassured me that this Biomedicine course is fully accredited by the Royal Society of Biology.

Even when looking into the graduate dentistry requirements, they have stated that any degree is viable as long as 2/3 of the degree consists of biology and chemistry, as well as obtaining a 2:1.

Just to be on the safe side I would still appreciate if someone else could confirm for definite that this specific Biomedicine degree is 100% a Bioscience and could be used for graduate entry into dentistry/ medicine.

Just thought I would give you everything that I know.
I would say that if your aim is to do medicine I wouldn't take either offer and apply for medicine next year.

Please let me know if you find anything, I’ll do the same if I find info from other sources. Also, good luck! 🙂

I graduated this year with a BSc (Hons) in Biomedicine from Birkbeck. I can confirm the RSB accredits the degree. It was a very informative and interesting course, and the professors are highly regarded in their fields.

One of my coursemates started Graduate Medicine at Kings College recently. So as long as you achieve the grades, the degree is definitely accepted for Med School.
