Should I apply for a review of marking?

hey everyone, hope results day went okay <3

i got my results today and achieved AAA, but was one mark off a A* in two subjects (english literature and sociology) and have been told that subjective a levels are more unpredictable in terms of being reviewed. getting them looked at is quite important because i'm not sure i can handle my firm choice (LSE - law) academically and financially, so i am considering reapplying to keep my options open, and if i got even one grade moved up to an A*, i feel like i give myself the best chance.

does anybody have any advice for my situation? tysm

Has LSE confirmed you have a place in the Law programme?

For 1 mark in each of two subjects like those, I'd say it's definitely worth a Review of Marking.

Hi @slaypooka

Congratulations on your amazing results!

With such a close margin to the next grade, I would seriously consider getting them remarked as they are very very unlikely to drop to the grade boundary below even if they do go down a few marks in the process. I would speak to your school/college and your teachers to see what they suggest but, as you said, with subjective exams like yours, there is every chance they may go up and open more options for where you can study next.

Good luck!

Request your scripts (it's free) and ask your teachers to take a look through to see if they think a review of marking is worthwhile.

hi! lse has confirmed my place yes, but the accomodation + living expense is just not reasonable for someone from my background, i get the full loan and have worked part time through sixth form, but i don't know if risking it all for somewhere so competitive is the most stable decision

thanks ever so much!! i'm just on the fence now about reapplication because i think i'd like to maybe give oxford law a shot but barely meeting the entry requirements (right now) causes a bit of stress, i think even A*AA would give me some more confidence maybe

would you say there is any way of strategically picking a paper specifically? especially for sociology paper 2 was my lowest score but i would say i found that exam the nicest, do you think there is a more potential for a mark there? thanks so much for the help!!

Ask for the scripts for all of your papers as it is free. Your teachers will be able to advise which papers should be submitted for a review of marking.
