Yes if you complete biomed with a 70% in first year at have the grades at alevels then you can but there is only very limited spaces for both med and dentistry in the transfer options!

Oh take that gap year! You have the grades completely as long as your ucat matches up you should be fine and obviously to complete a successful interview! So yes take the gap year it will be more beneficial for you unless you think, you taking a gap year will hinder the way you perform educationally! But if I was you I’d grab into that gap year!!! Also massive congrats on those grades that’s amazing!!!

If you do decide to go into biomed, your transfer might be easier in terms of you won’t have to go through ucas again as internal transfers are easy! But you’d be able to apply to other unis if you do it to ucas. But I must say Plymouth is an amazing uni and has amazing facility and practices for dentistry and many other courses

No that’s fine! I actually didn’t apply for dentistry, I had applied for dental hygiene and therapy, when I was first applying for uni, but didn’t get in so I went for biomed, and during the course I found out how competitive it is to transfer which put me off for doing it and I’d rather of done a post graduate entry to dentistry after graduation from biomed but then decided not to go that route because It would of take a good few years and also because I found a new course I’d rather get a degree in that’s still healthcare sector.

I won’t lie the competitiveness of transferring is big within but you do get support, but I think it was 4 or 6 people they chooses in total for across medicine and dentistry but I could be wrong! Just super competitive regardless.

Yes if you complete first year of biomed, you definitely can transfer to another uni to either continue with biomed or go in to dentistry, the only catch is some uni will give you a higher conditional offer such as you be to pass with 75% and others might give you a lower like 60%. It also depends on the uni marking scheme because not all universities do it the same so for your point to transfer they need to be in the same points system, but that’s a quick email you can do!

So yes you can continue or do first year dent with your first year biomed at Plymouth at another uni!

This has nothing to do with the courses but just wanted to ask is it better to have a MacBook or iPad with Apple Pencil when in university doing biomedicine

I uses a MacBook, I prefer typing notes and when doing coursework it’s easier to use for essays and lap reports. But for lectures iPad is better to be able to write the notes down especially on diagrams.

It generally depends on how you take notes both are good for its different uses! But Biomed does have a lot of course work so I’d suggest a MacBook,
my friend who does dentistry uses a laptop that converts to an tablet aswell so he can type and write! I’m not sure which one it is but I think it’s a Samsung one and it’s quite good!

Any advice on how to answer questions more quickly in the Ucat when doing timed conditions
I can genuinely only give you general advice that you have probably heard already like

practice under times conditions regularly

Skip and return to question, what I suggest is read the question 3 times if after that you still don’t get it skip it and return

go through and do the question you know how to answer and are confident on

Eliminate the obviously wrong answers

don’t spend to long on a section try and give time evenly even if that means having to skip and return

get your self familiar with the format. Make sure you completely understand how to answer

I’m not sure if that any help but it’s herbal advice you can follow for any exams!
