University of York accommodation

Hello so I I have just been allocated to goodricke college at the University of York and its east campus. However my lectures will be delivered on the west campus. Would that be an issue with transport? please may any York students reply. Would be helpful!
Thank you

Hi, it’s really common for students to live on a different campus to their department! There’s a free bus between campuses that only takes about 5 minutes and walking takes around 15-25 minutes

Hi there,

Congratulations! We can't wait to welcome you on Campus in September!

I'm a York alumni - I graduated in 2022 so not too long ago! I'll do my best to answer your question.

It's super easy to get between Campus East and West, and definitely manageable to live on one and have your lectures on the other. You have a couple of options for getting between the campuses:

Bus - The 66 and 67 bus services (which go between the University and city centre) are free between Campus East and West. This journey takes between 5 and 10 minutes, depending on the traffic

Cycle - cycling between the two campuses takes between 10 and 15 minutes depending on where you are starting from on Campus East and going to on Campus West (and vice versa). There are lots of bike stores on both campuses where you can securely lock up your bike while you're in classes.

Walk - Walking takes around 20 mins depending on where you are starting from on Campus East and going to on Campus West (and vice versa).

I hope this helps! - Hannah 🙂

It’ll be about a 15-30 minute walk depending on how fast you walk and where on west your lectures are. It’ll probably be around 20mins realistically. Loads of students do the walk and it’s not that bad but there are regular free buses as well!!
