Am I a failure? Will I be able to become a history teacher with this grade?

Hi so last year on results day I got a D on History A level. I did get an A on sociology and a Merit on a btec computing course. I did get a 7 at GCSE History but a D at A level. So far I finished and passed my first year of History with a 2:1 and I will be going on to second year. I averaged a B and A during my history mocks. I just don’t know what happened at the end. I was 3 marks away from a C and what caused me to lose out was because I got east Germany and west Germany confused so I got 0 marks as a result. It was my mistake. Even though I am enjoying my course at history university, I just feel like a failure because of the D.

My main focus is to pass university with a 2:1. Will I be able to get a job as a history teacher or will this one A level grade impact me? Thank you.

I appreciate how worried you are about this and the concerns you have about the future, but you are definitely not a failure! :hugs:

@04MR17 can advise as he is a history teacher

This is a really easy one - yes.
If you've got a degree in history, your A Level grade won't be looked at when it comes to PGCE courses or jobs :nah:

Thank you so much. This literally relieved my worries. This was because I heard history was oversubscribed and it might be difficult to get a job so I was worried they would simply choose the ones with better A levels. Is teach first also acceptable in terms of applying there? I will also apply for PGCE after my second year. Thank you so much 🙂
