Aberystwyth is in the North of Wales and is nearby to the university of Bangor, these universities are not in large cities. They are quite small and next to the west coast and so the weather can seem very rain centric. My brother went to Bangor and really enjoyed being so close to the mountain range and the hiking, there are less places for drinking if that’s your thing. They have great horse riding places and loads of outdoor activities you can enjoy.

Newcastle is known for being a party town, it’s a much larger university in a much larger city. I personally am really looking forward to going there. It’s also a Russell group university and the name will be well known on job applications as being more prestigious, (I’m not sure how much these things matter on job applications nowadays but I’m told that they can mean a lot). The North of the UK is also extremely friendly (I grew up not too far from Newcastle) from what I can tell. But of course much busier than Aberystwyth and I can understand why people won’t want to go to unis in large cities.

Hi there, we have Clearing visit days happening over the weekend (both tomorrow and Sunday) if you'd like to visit Aberystwyth campus to look around the facilities, accommodation, campus, and the town too. We also contribute towards travel expenses for Clearing Visits and you can register online. To give you an idea about the town, Aberystwyth is a lively student town located right on the coast with plenty of cafes, restaurants, and bars. It's a great place if you like exploring the outdoors and looking for a tight-knit student community. Hope this helps!
I don't think where you do your degree matters as much as the quality of the degree you get.
I have visited Aber and it is quite a distance to travel to get there. However, it is a small, safe and friendly place that puts great emphasis on student satisfaction. The student accomdation is really great and very good value.
Its a smaller town that Newcastle and so I think it would come down to the sort of vibe you want from where you are studying

I definitely agree with the sentiment that the quality of the degree matters more than than the university you go to (at least outside of the top 10% of unis). Proffesors and what they teach in comp sci can really make or break the experience. Make sure to look at student reviews on reddit and also have a look at the spec to see if the modules are what you are interested in, or don't seem like they were made 15 years ago. I know this comment is a little late. If so where have you choosen to go?
