The Student Room Group

how to check if i’m sharing a room with someone.

i’ve been offered an accommodation at uea’s britten house. from what i’ve seen on uea’s accommodation website, it displays the floor plan and states there are bunk beds. however, i have also seen online room tours in that flat which only has one bedroom.

how do i know whether im having a bunk bed room or a single bed room?

am i also able to ask for another single bed accommodation since id rather be alone than share a room?
I would recommend contacting the uni directly to find out. I suspect they can't guarantee you wouldn't be in a shared room for that accommodation (as otherwise all of those would be immediately taken up) and unless you have specific e.g. medical needs that necessitate it, you may well be placed in a shared room. You may want to consider other accommodation locations which don't have that if it's a feature you want to avoid.

their lines are open from 9-4:30 so i can't contact them at this moment in time. should i just accept the other now and see if they can change it later? or should i not accept and wait for them to change it for me?

they have given me the flat number and room number. is there a way to check or preview what the room actually looks like? thank you very much for your help

Your priority, I suspect, will be to make sure you don't miss the deadline for accepting the accommodation offer -- because that might mean that you'll need to find accommodation yourself.

If you have time to contact the university without missing the deadline then you should contact them to get clarification.

Hi there,

Congrats on being offered accommodation at UEA!

Britten House at UEA only offers single en-suite rooms, so unless they changed their policy very recently you're safe to assume you'll have the room for yourself in a shared flat. The best way to get a clear answer is to contact UEA’s Accommodation Office directly (Email: [email protected] or Telephone: 01603 59 2092)

Hope this helps, and best of luck with your move to UEA! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Best,
Daniel
