Student Railcards

I'm going to be commuting around two hours back and forth each day to get to uni and back... i havent leant how ot drive yet and i have no idea how a railcard works and where is the best place to get one. I've looked on trainline and it is £30 for a year or £70 for three, but i was just wondering if there is any better options an dhow they work exactly ... lolz im so confused

I got the 3 year one, because it paid for itself in the end, and if you renew every year it just worked out more expensive. You can get a digital or a physical plastic card. I opted for the plastic card because I don't usually trust my phone on long journeys  but it just depends which one you want to opt for.

Basically when you buy train tickets usually there's a 'add a railcard' option. And when you buy tickets and look at the ticket options there's a railcard option which usually has a cheaper price.
