Hello! I've been lurking in the forums for a while now, and I've finally decided to create an account. I don't know how the 'pick a forum' works so this forum is the only one that kinda makes sense. (can someone explain how it works as well?)
My question is quite stupid, but I'm going to ask anyway. As of today (15/08/24), I got accepted into my firm choice uni to study history. I'm already overthinking things, mainly my 3rd year. During both semesters, I'll have to write a dissertation, which is fine, but my issue is that I'll have to do two oral presentations (one assessed and one unassessed) regarding research, etc. I have pretty bad anxiety, especially when it comes to public speaking. I remember sitting out of drama from year 7 to year 9 because of how bad my anxiety can get when speaking/preforming in front of multiple people. Additionally, I was able to sit out of doing a presentation for my EPQ (I didn't submit it in the end), and I didn't do a speech for English that went towards my GCSE because of the same issue.
Now I know that this is in three years, and I know that in the end I'm going to have to suck it up and gain the confidence to do it, but I just wanted to see if I would be able to present my oral presentations to the assessors/lecturers and not in front of the rest of the students? Has anyone else done something like this? Or does anyone have any tips to help me overcome my fear?*I understand that I'm not the only one and that the students probably won't care but I just wanted to know
Many thanks!
