Leicester or Cardiff for maths?

I want to know which has the better course and better prospects. Leicester is more convenient for me based on where I live rn but I don't want to miss Cardiff if it has a better course and better prospects

Hey @aneeshp22 👋

Which course are you thinking of studying? Is it just maths alone? I would start by opening up the maths course page for both universities in separate tabs. Check out the specific modules which would be covered and see if there is one that fascinates you more. There are also other things to consider and compare between the universities such as accommodation, placement opportunities, facilities, clubs and societies, graduate prospects, location, student support, career support, etc. I'd also recommend reading some student reviews and checking out a virtual campus tour if you can.

It's difficult trying to decide between universities, but it's a good start thinking about the things that are important to you and seeing which university meets your expectations the most.

Another idea (very old school) is creating a pros and cons list of both universities, and seeing which university has the most pros!

Maths.
They have already told you that.

Ranking-wise there is nothing in it; Leicester is ranked 37th and Cardiff ranked 38th. However, student life in Cardiff is a lot better than in Leicester. Cardiff has a wonderful city campus - white stoned buildings 10 minutes walk from the city centre, cheap accommodation, great social scene.

Hiya!

Awesome to hear you're interested in Cardiff as a uni! The maths course here is brilliant. Its based in ABACWS, one of our newest buildings, having built only a few years ago! It has great, new modern facilities and work spaces.

I hear that you're a bit concerned about convenience, and I totally get it - I was too when I applied to uni! We get students from all over, and whilst it is in Wales, there are brilliant transport links. We have a train station right on the heart of campus (right next to the ABACWS building actually!) and coaches stop on campus as well. Cardiff now has a central coach station and the Cardiff Central Train station has trains going further into Wales and all across the UK. Its quite easy to travel from Cardiff to most parts of the UK!

Hope that helps, let me know if I can help with anything else!

Hi @aneeshp22

As a current Leicester student, I can’t recommend our Maths program enough! The lecturers are fantastic—always ready to help and make complex topics really engaging. The smaller class sizes mean you get personalized support, which has made a huge difference for me. Plus, Leicester is such a vibrant and friendly city with loads to do, and the living costs are super reasonable. I’ve also found that the career services here are top-notch, really focused on helping us secure great jobs after graduation. Honestly, Leicester is the perfect choice if you want a strong, supportive, and fun university experience!

Hope this helped!
