Which part? You could almost go directly from the first expression to the last as you should know the basic pythagoean identity
1 + tan^2 = sec^2

Its simply
sin^2 + cos^2 = 1
which you have covered and divide by cos^2 so
tan^2 + 1 = 1/cos^2 = sec^2
and the question is simply this but as a reciprocal.
