Didn't get into any of my preferred accommodations :(

Hi guys,

First of all congrats on getting in and getting your accomodation sorted if you have🎉

But is there anyone who didn't get into any of their preferred accommodations? I wanted an ensuite room because of privacy and it suited my needs, but I was soon met with disappointment when I opened the accomodation portal just to see me being allocated a twin room at Manor Hall

I tried to change my accomodation, with the parameters of it being an ensuite, but all they could offer me is another single room with a basin at Badock Hall.

Now don't get me wrong, I know I should be grateful. But seeing all of these posts of people getting their preferred accommodations makes me feel so bad.

If anyone knows anything about badock hall that can cheer me up, pls do tell me! I just feel very unlucky today :frown:

Hello, sorry you are unhappy with your allocation. I would imagine you will be prioritised a switch in due course, if you are in a shared room and unhappy. Although Manor House looks great.

Badock Hall self catered flats are meant to be just new, I glean from social media reviews, but the catered rooms more dated.

Unfortunately I can't offer a switch as I am shared bathroom too, in a basic room in University Hall (all of which I am happy enough with - any reassurance gratefully recieved), but I am curious to know how you tried to change your accommodation in the portal. When I opened the portal it said this was my one offer, either accept it or not. It was my first choice, so fair enough! But my main worry at the time was not getting anything within budget. I am very grateful for my room, but I've never actually been to Bristol and I'm wondering if I've done the right thing by opting for self catered. I had put down a mix of options within my 9 choices, sort of leaving it to chance. If anyone knows more about whether switching is common or easy further down the line please let me know. Likewise if I can maybe ever try out a catered meal in any of the other Halls on an ad hoc basis. TIA

Heyy, if it's any consolation I also didn't get any of my preferred accommodation options for Bristol uni and have ended up in catered (and also without an en suite) which I didn't think would suit me particularly as I would have quite liked the independence of being able to make my own meals and decide when I get to eat them. But I think it's pretty common for people not to get their preferred accommodation at Bristol after reading a lot of people's comments on here.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear you're not happy with your accommodation offer. It may be worth looking into private student accommodation if you really want an ensuite and haven't accepted your current offer of accommodation?

Hey I actually have an en-suite accommodation in east village and would love to go to badock, is there any way you would be willing to switch?

Hey! I’ve phoned Bristol today and they are letting people switch if they both confirm with the uni! I have an ensuite and it’s self catered it’s in one of the uni accoms in Bristol! Would love to switch if you are willing to?
