A levels for entertainment industry

Year 11 is fast approaching and now I am considering my A levels. The plan is to pick psychology and history (as I am the only person in my school who got full marks on my medicine and western front mock) and I am ideally aiming for a career in the entertainment industry (not sure what job yet). From your experience, would drama or music (I do both at gcse and decent at both) better equip me with a qualification that is the first step to a successful career in the industry. Struggling to decide which I should choose as my third option, and any advice is appreciated 🙏
Both could be useful, do you prefer one over the other?
Also if you were to drop music can you continue to do something music related such as clubs or instrument lessons? Same for drama- will where you study likely have drama clubs or put on shows you could join in with? Im just thinking that if you’re struggling to choose it could be possible to take one and do a bunch of enrichment stuff in the other field.
Overall pick which aligns more with your interests.
Alternatively, if you’d like to go to uni and study something entertainment related have a look at some uni entry requirements for degrees you might want to study and see if they specify one or the other. Hope this helps and happy tot try to answer any more questions if you have them. Have a great day
Hi,
I would definitely suggest having a look at: https://www.prospects.ac.uk/ as this website can be really useful in helping you look into different routes and grades for career paths. They also have a quiz to help match you to a job.
Drama and Music both tend to be good options as routes into the entertainment industry but music will allow you to be able to take up an instrument on the side which may be seen as an extra curricular for your UCAS form if that's helpful.
I don't think there is any 'wrong' decision here so ultimately it's what you enjoy more.
Best of luck,
Meg 🙂
