KCL or UCL

I’ve got offer to study econ at kings after missing my UCL offer by one grade I got an A in maths but needed A*.

Do u think it’s worth resitting maths and taking a gap year to get into UCL. Just cos I don’t rlly wanna go kings cos UCL is sm better for job prospects and kings isn’t even a target uni. Or is it even possible to transfer from kings to UCL cos I don’t think UCL does transfers.

Any advice would be appreciateddd

Hi,
You should if UCL allows resits because a lot of unis do not.
If they do for your course think about how long a gap year is and if it is worth it for you.

yeah nvm I checked they don’t accept resits 💀 I’m trying to get a remark and special considerations but idk much it
is KCL that bad?
please reconsider going to kings. its horrible overrated uni the disability support is hopeless the accommodation team are just using chatgpt responses and arent giving me a suitable room
and the admissions arent giving my £500 deposit back 😭

I wish people would realise and so that either they close the uni or they finally realise that nobody is joining and they fix themselves...

Someone from my old school got rejected for Southampton medicine but on results day they called her and offered her a place. That could always happen

yeah I called on results day they just said no if I don’t meet the requirement doesn’t matter how close I was cos econ is competitive there

I don't really care about IB cah it's soulless imo but, you want a target yh? that is, oxbridge lse imperial ucl and warwick, right. if you're really down, take the gap year and reapply for warwick econ. they should allow it. get your teachers to give you the A* predicted grade; dk about your other grades but you could resit some others as well for it. you've got to be willing to accept the fact that there is a risk that you might not get an offer next year, and you have to be okay with that and come to terms with that because should that happen it'll be quite distressin still, but if you're fully committed and your personal statement is perfected I don't see why you shouldn't be able to get it. bare in mind econ is competitive as hell tho, and at these universities? all the more (lse imperial oxbridge on resits is basically a no go - ucl only for certain courses). ucl cs allow resits tho? you could also try applying for another course like hpe (ppe say they don't mind but it's cap icl, besides that too is ultra competitive). yeah, king's is a semi; it's still possible from there, but if you're down you could resit reapply and apply to warwick and potentially universities abroad tho make sure you look into the scholarships for that as well. btw if you mean target for jobs - it's not, it's really target for IB/high finance that the top 6 are referred to still.

I don’t rlly wanna go into IB like that ofc if the opportunities there I would do but mainly consulting/banking/financial analyst/financial crimes I got A*AA so for lse I meet the requirements already, I meet it for warick econ with the contextual offers, and yeah I would apply to lse and kings again basically just in case I don’t get the offer, maybe warick cos I would be able to work and save up as the main reason I want to stay in London it’s cos it’s just too expensive for me to move out

Medicine clearing is a very different beast, lots of med schools operate waitlists. UCL Business likely doesn't.

Have you called LSE to ask about a vacancy?

well it's alrr then imo, lol; but no seriously you can take the year out, but it is still very competitive so you have got to be willing to accept that you are taking a risk here. but no if you've gotten achieved grades then you can totally go for it still; I thought you said you didn't get the A* but maybe perhaps you got a remark. but yeah I hear that still, am going to kcl myself for ppe and I, could've gone to warwick but my sfe won't even cover it (they also gave me an alternative offer as well)
you can take the gap year fr but do have at the back of your mind that, anything can happen with admissions, alr, so that it doesn't get you downed if, anything, bad, should happen, alr
