There's no gossip. There's no conspiracy. It's just that nobody in this country, nor indeed the world should be stupid enough to fall for this again. Covid turned the world into snivelling morons, and people just pretend that it was all done for good reasons. The big difference will be that we now know that the economy was utterly trashed by covid measures and that there is no way that anyone can afford to do it again. We know (although some refuse to acknowledge) that pretty much everything was done wrong, but cheered on with religious fervour.

It seems unlikely that Mpox will spread across the world in the same way that Covid did. It's harder to pass from person to person, the symptoms are mild for most people and you can recover relatively quickly without treatment.

What did people "fall for" that was "stupid"? That Covid was a real, highly infectious and very serious disease?

Covid has dropped off the radar because a) the virus has mutated and current variants are less deadly and b) treatments exist which have considerably reduced the number of deaths. It hadn't always been like this, 232,000 people died to Covid in the UK alone and the majority of deaths occurred within the first year of the pandemic.

It was serious for the over 80s.

No, 232,000 people died with Covid.

The same 232,000 people died with toenails.

No, these were deaths due to Covid as marked on death certificates. In other words, deaths where Covid was the underlying cause (not just deaths where Covid was present).

Agreed. Theres also an mpox vaccine and the hospitals are not overflowing with mpox cases, which was the main reason for the (covid) lockdowns.

It’s a nagging worry as its virulence and transmissibility appear to be increasing. On the positive side there is already a vaccine
Lockdown. Close everything. Mask everyone. Inject everyone with chemicals.

And clap. Clap and cheer for the NHS. Clap until you hands bleed. And then clap some more.
