Preparing for clearing and uni - how are you dealing with stress?

Hey there 🤗

The big day is finally here, and I hope you're all staying positive, no matter what results you received. For those who aren’t completely satisfied with their results, I want you to know that it’s totally okay! We’re all human, and trust me - you’re not alone in feeling this way.

It can be stressful and overwhelming, which is why I want to remind you to take care of your mental health as you go through Clearing. We will talk about common misconceptions and how to handle the stress that comes with this process. And please, don’t hesitate to share your thoughts, feelings, or advice. We’re here to support each other! 🫶🏼

Clearing can seem a bit intimidating, especially with so many myths out there, but let’s clear up a few things so you can approach it with confidence 😎

One big misconception is that Clearing is only for students who didn’t do well in their exams. In reality, Clearing is also for those who changed their minds about their course, missed application deadlines, or even did better than expected and want to aim higher. It’s not just for students who struggled. There is no shame in going through Clearing! 🙅

Another myth is that only low-ranked universities offer places through Clearing. This is not true. Many high-ranked and reputable universities participate in Clearing, offering places on competitive courses. The availability of courses in Clearing often depends on various factors like student demand, course popularity, and intake targets, rather than the university's overall ranking

The key is to act quickly and do your research to find a course that suits your interests and goals ‼️

Some people think you have to accept the first offer you get in Clearing, but you actually have the freedom to explore multiple offers and choose what’s best for you.

Don’t worry about being at a disadvantage. Students who enter through Clearing have the same opportunities as those who gained admission through the main application cycle. You’ll receive the same education, access to resources, and degree upon graduation.

While Clearing does move quickly, there’s still time to make an informed decision 🕰️ Universities offer plenty of resources, like virtual tours and open days, to help you choose the right path. Make sure to check them out! Clearing might not be what you originally planned, but it’s a solid way to get where you want to go. Don’t let misconceptions hold you back 💃

We are in, but we also need to keep the good vibes going and stay calm. Therefore, I want to share some practical tips on how to look after your mental health during this time. Let’s make sure we’re taking care of ourselves as we move forward!

First off, it’s important to acknowledge your feelings. Clearing can feel like a rollercoaster, with ups and downs as you navigate decisions and options. Allow yourself to feel whatever comes up 🤯 Recognising these emotions is the first step in managing them.

One way to ease the stress is to stay organised. Make a list of universities and courses that are available through Clearing, and set aside time to research them. Having a plan can give you a sense of control during a time that might otherwise feel chaotic.

It’s also helpful to talk to someone you trust about what you’re going through. Whether it’s a friend, family member, or teacher, sharing your worries can make them feel more manageable. Sometimes just having someone listen can make a big difference👂

Frequently, all we need is to let go of that emotional weight we’re carrying, and it can be easier to do that with someone who isn’t directly involved. So, use this post to vent or share whatever’s on your mind. I’m here to listen and respond if you need it.

Finally, keep things in perspective as well 🚀 Remember that Clearing is just another route to get into university, and it doesn’t define your worth or future success. Instead, focus on what you can control. You can’t change the past, but you can control how you approach the situation. Stay positive, be proactive, and trust in your ability to make the right decision for yourself!

I hope it was helpful guys 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or you want to share your thoughts and feelings 😉 You can also chat with me or other students directly through The Ambassador Platform.

Take care,
