Dental Hygiene - Mature Student - Access Course or 2 A-Levels in a year

Hi everyone

Thank you in advance for anyone who can help or offer any experience. I really want to study dental hygiene at South Bank. It's close to my home and is the only option I have sInce I have a family I don't have the option of moving away to carry out a degree. There are other universities local to me but they either don't offer hygiene or they want A's.

So I originally wanted to do an access course which I would complete in one year, however I'm really worried that I won't be accepted and it will be a year wasted studying. I have GCSE maths and English and an AVCE in business which is like a vocational A-level which I'm not sure if they accept but I got BB. I don't have any other GCSEs.

I don't want to be rejected, has anyone taken an access course and got into dental hygiene? If anyone has please let me know what you studied for access, I would really appreciate that.

Now I'm considering doing 2 A-levels in a year. Biology and Chemistry and aiming for BB. This would mean I would also take GCSE biology and chemistry and at least give me 4 GCSEs I won't be able to do practicals just the international equivalent. Do you think this would be enough? I want to increase my chances. Do you think it's manageable doing 2 A-levels in a year??

Please share your experiences.
