[Golden Threads] What would be your 'Something Songs'?

This is a Golden Thread. Join in with the discussion before 29th August to be in with a chance of winning a £50 Amazon Voucher

Hi there :hi:

If you're a listener of BBC Radio 1, you might be familiar with the 'Something Songs' segment where one listener gets the chance to choose songs played live on the radio to the theme of:

Something Old (probably something over 30+ years old but up to you!)
Something New (would suggest going for a song that has come out in last few years)
Something Borrowed (like a cover of a song)
Something Blue (can be a sad song or literally something with the word blue in it!)

So what would your Something Songs be?
I'll go first :music:

Something Old: Linger - The Cranberries (I can't help but sing along to this one whenever I hear it, also a fantastic karaoke tune)

Something New: What was I made for? - Billie Eilish (I don't listen to much Billie Eilish but I think her voice sounds incredible in this song, it's haunting but also calming at the same time)

Something Borrowed: Everytime (Cover) - Lewis Capaldi (This was an easy one, BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, I really like how Lewis Capaldi adds a completely different vibe and dimension to this song in his cover, it also really shows off his talent)

Something Blue: Blue (Da Ba Dee) - Eiffel 65 (Honestly, this is a certified banger and guaranteed to get everyone on the dancefloor at the family party)

Now it's over to you :ahee: Can't wait to see your choices!

Something blue can be something you listen to when you're feeling down maybe or a more literal interpretation like I did 🙂
This is such a tough one... but for my Something Songs I'm going to choose:

Something Old: Don't Explain by Chet Baker
Something New: One Of Your Girls by Troye Sivan
Something Borrowed: Lil Simz cover of Feel Good Inc
Something Blue: The Funeral by Band of Horses

:danceboy::rock:
Something old: Waterloo Sunset by the Kinks
Something new: Until I found you by Steven Sanchez
Something borrowed: Help by Rick Wakeman (Beatles)
Something blue: Blue Moon by Nat King Cole

Why thank you

:colondollar:
picking music is like picking a favourite book but:

Something Old: It's My Life - Bon Jovi (I had surprisingly few old options 😅)
Something New: Navigating - twenty one pilots
Something Borrowed: Walking On Sunshine - Ice Nine Kills (they are a ska-turned-metalcore band and the original song played in the interval when I saw them live and the whole crowd sung it, the cover is for the American Psycho comic book soundtrack...I'm not even making this up >-<)
Something Blue: Something Blue - VOILA (forgot I had this aptly titled song lmao)
Something old - I wanna dance with somebody (Whitney Houston)
Something new - Espresso (Sabrina Carpenter) ik it’s kinda basic but I love singing it
Something borrowed - Fast car (Luke Combs)
Something blue - Blue Christmas (Elvis Presley)
