Hey @courageous-milkm 👋

Congratulations on obtaining a clearing place at both Sussex and Swansea.

There are many factors that you should consider in order to pick the right choice. I created a thread on this, but have outlined some of the factors below for your convenience:

Location - Are you a homebody or would you like to venture further afield? If you prefer your home comforts, you may wish to look at a university closer to home, but if you want to gain some independence - take a look at universities further afield.
Local area - What is the local area like? What can you get involved with? Would you prefer to be in a busy city, or a quieter area?
Campus - What is campus like? is it spread out within a city or is it a self-contained campus? Which would you prefer?
Course modules - This is arguably one of the most important factors, as you want to ensure that the university's modules appeal to you. Ask yourself - which university has more appealing course modules for your chosen course - is there one in particular which appeals to you more? which aligns more with your interests?
Accommodation - Are you guaranteed a place to stay in your first year? Is your accommodation close-by to campus?
Student support - what support is available to you as a student should you need it?
Career support - which university seems to have a better support network and resources for obtaining a career on a short-term basis (internships, volunteering, placements) and more long-term (graduate role, entrepreneurship, entry-level role etc).
Clubs/societies - which university offers the most appealing clubs/societies that you can get involved with? What's their Student's Union like? clubs/societies are the perfect way to make friends, and so it's important to choose a university that offers clubs/societies matching your interests - especially if you have a hobby that you'd like to continue in university.

It's important to think about what is important to you and what you hope to gain from university when considering which to choose.

Good luck in your decision - I'm sure you'll make the right choice 😀

Do you have a gut feeling about the modules offered on each course?
How about where they are? Both are reasonable options. Swansea would probably be cheaper and the campus has a beautiful location, However, the wider area is more deprived. You would be in touching distance of walking in the Brecons.
Sussex is a campus in the countryside, very close to Brighton, which is a vibrant and diverse city. it would be more expensive. You are in touching distance of walks in the south downs national park.

Hi @courageous-milkm, I hope all is well, congrats on your offer with Swansea Uni!

Have you visited us yet? If not, I would definitely recommend speaking with staff and students to get a feel for the course and campus vibe too.

We're open for visits from today, and every day until next Tuesday 1000 to 1600. https://www.swansea.ac.uk/clearing/events/

Great advice from the other responses here too, especially Lauren at @WrexhamUniReps, kudos 🙂.

Our location is awesome, if you like being right on the coast, beautiful beaches and a great sports and social calendar too. Vibrant art and music scene, culture...lots and lots of bars, clubs and restaurants. A really big student population, amazingly diverse, with a loveluy community too.

Hopefully, we'll see you soon! Gethin (Future Students Team).
