Struggling with apprenticeships due to concerns of grades

Hi all,

I'm a college student currently coming up to my second and final year in photography. Previously wanted to do business management after sixth form, however due to under-performing after this (B,C,D compared to expected A,B,B), I couldn't do any degrees or accept offers, as I had little UCAS points.

Ended up deleting the UCAS account mainly because of this and resultant poor mental state.

The main concern is future education - I wanted to do apprenticeships in business instead, however they seem to want BBC grades and ideally A-Level Maths which I didn't do, again due to under-performing in GCSEs. I am not extremely keen on University however I could just scrape into Business Management if I wanted - they want 112 points, and this would be met (I think) after the completion of my photography.

There was more concern over grades of my photography and how much this would increase on UCAS - after year 1 I got overall Distinction* but don't know what that is worth in UCAS points.

Hopefully makes some sort of sense, I want some insight into whether there are alternatives and reference to UCAS points, as I really don't understand what distinction is compared to regular grades (believe its equivalent to an A but not too sure)...

Thanks for reading.

Hi,

I think the first thing to do is work out what grades/ UCAS points you will have by the end of your course and go from there. If you click on the following link you will be able to work out what you already have and what you may be able to obtain by the end of your course: https://www.ucas.com/undergraduate/applying-university/entry-requirements/calculate-your-ucas-tariff-points

Once you have done that, you can begin to research different unis, apprenticeships or other schemes that you may be eligible to apply for and work out what you think works best for you.

I hope this helps!
