Oxford,Imperial,UCL accepting resits for physics?

Hi all, Ive have gotten my a-level results and they have been immensly dissapointing and now I am considering resits. I got ABBD with an A in Chemistry, B's in Maths and Physics and the D in Further Maths. In lead up to the exams, I did all the past papers under exam conditions and performed very well in them, often getting 100% in papers, but in Further Maths, due to the further mechanics modules, my grade suffered immensly as I had never done such questions before and the methods I was taught were not applicable to the questions given. But ultimatly, the blame does lie on me for a lack of practise, over confidence in my abilities and then failing to work under pressure when seeing hard questions. In school mocks which were composed of past paper questions, I had done very well, getting 3A*A in the final one a few months before the real deal.
I am gap year student and havent applied this academic year (applicants for entry in 2024), but will be applying soon in october as an applicant for entry in 2025.
If I were to do retakes and get new predicted grades for my new application, would it still be possible for me to join the likes of Oxford, Imperial and UCL? For the Oxford Physics Admissions Test, I usually get around 85ish but lowest is 80, highest around 87.
Is it still worthwhile for me to apply and would I still have a good chance of entering either of these three universities?

A lot of good universities don't accept resits maybe check on their websites if they even allow it. I don't think Oxford would accept resits and it is also less likely for you to get accepted for physics at Oxford as they prefer students who do maths or physics don't take a gap year. Good luck though

That's because they don't know whether said student is going to stay in touch with Maths and Physics. If there is evidence to suggest one way or another that you are improving upon your skills, then I think they will be fine with that. And as the OP has said, they are planning on resitting so that is enough evidence to say that they are in touch with their Maths and Physics.
