Nursing placement

I have been on my final management placement for 7 weeks out of 11. Up until week 5 I had not recieved any negative feedback whatsoever and have good feedback reflected on my pad document. On week 5 I raised some poor/unsafe practice in my learning environment and spoke to the ward manager regarding mistreatment and the ways in which I was being made to feel as I had been Singled out, comments had been made about students amongst other things. I have worked with my assessor for one shift. We did my midpoint last and there was no mention of action planning. Suddenly on Tuesday my assessor is trying to action plan me. All negative feedback has come since I complained and raised issues to management and the wards matron. This feels very convenient and the negative feedback is unevidenced and unjustified. I kept being told I couldn't move as it needs to be a continuous placement as its my leading and management placement. I have since spoken to RCN who advised there is no guidance to say it has to be continuous. All my proficiencies have been signed so this placement is essentially to demonstrate leadership, management and complete the last of my hours.

Has anyone had a similar experience or any advice regarding this. Ofcourse this is a very brief outline of the situation.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!!

Hi I’m so sorry you feel like that in this point of your degree. I have just finished my nursing degree and I understand management placement Is very hard I can’t count the amount of times I cried on that placement.
Firstly you are nearly at the end don’t give up . Get university involved tell university what is happening and how you feel, get into contact with the module leader for this practice, get your personal academic tutor to visit you are on your placement and I would definitely suggest you ask your tutor to be present at your final interview.
Remember you are only at that placement for a few weeks you are not there forever that is not your permanent job. As you have been there for 5 weeks get feedback from staff that you have worked alongside tell them to fill out feedback forms for you and get patients to fill out patient feedback forms as this is something we needed to pass our placements so that you can show your assessor evidence of how well you are doing.
You do have a few weeks left so I would say try your best to work alongside your assessor because she is signing you off. Work alongside your assessor as it will benefit you a lot so that your assessor can see how you are doing.
Get into contact with services that are linked between placement and university for example we had practice educators that would come in and talk to us about a concerns we had.
Work as hard as you can get involved in any learning opportunity you are nearly there don’t give up.
I hope that was helpful, best of luck in completing your placement.
Thanks
