Predicted grades

I just got my AS results and I didn’t do well in physics I got a D and I really want to go into chemical engineering. However after some browsing I couldn’t find any unis what accept my grades.

I also was looking at degree apprenticeships too as I cannot afford university.

My teacher did tell me as that it will be unlikely I would be predicted a D and will probably be predicted a C if my other physics teacher agrees with her and they carefully consider my attainment in lesson.

Can anyone please advise me on what I should be doing or what to do at all right now?

My other subjects are chemistry, maths and English lit. I will be dropping English literature. I will be predicted a A and B for maths and chemistry. Although I am not completely certain on the A yet though.

I was literally in nearly the same situation. I got a D for Physics and got predicted a C. I take Maths and Psychology and I am on A and B predicted too. Newcastle University offer a PARTNERS program where if you sign up in September 2024, 2 of the grades required are lowered by one grade (eg. Required: ABB With PARTNERS: BBC).

I am looking to do mechanical engineering at university and for this year, if you take the course you are automatically eligible for PARTNERS. Chemical engineering is too: (https://www.ncl.ac.uk/partners/how-to-apply/eligibility/engineering-maths-physics/ .

The only requirements are that you select Newcastle as your firm choice university and you attend and complete a summer school in 2025. Newcastle is a Top 200 University globally and Top 30 in the UK so it is very good.

In addition to this, you mentioned you cannot afford university however there are various grants you can access if you either live in a certain postal code or prove that you cannot afford university. Just check they're website to see what they have available.

Best of luck

If possible, a lot of the time you can change your predicted grades after November mocks which will be in time for the deadline. But you could always look at foundation years for university. Hope it goes well!
