apply for USA universities now

hi

I have my A-levels A*BBC and now I want to see if is there any way I can immigrate to the USA unis now? or is it too late?
Also, do I have to do a lot of work to register for uni?
in the UK(London) I have options for city or Brunel I thought maybe I have a better option in the USA.
i want to study mechanical engineering.

It's way too late for the US. For 2024 entry, US unis already sent out offers in March 2024 and everyone already firmed their offers by April/May. If you really want to go to the US you can always transfer and go for 2025 entry.

You can see if any US colleges with rolling admissions are still accepting applicants. I suspect few are at this point, and almost certainly none that would be worth the international fees you'll have to pay out of pocket.

Do you have a plan for how you would be paying for university in the US?
It's there any restrictions on the type of job a student can do?

well, I am an international student so it doesn’t really matter which country I am in. I know it's late but I thought they might have spaces. I was expecting to get much higher A-levels but in May I wasn’t feeling very good so I don't have any uni in the UK now.

US unis start in less than 2 weeks and everyone has already chosen their classes, figured our their schedule, and chosen roommates/accommodation

I think realistically you're looking at a gap year if you don't want to go to those options in the UK.

I think at this stage there probably aren't better universities available in the US without applying in a gap year.

Also, just to add, US unis look at way more than grades too. You can't just submit your grades and get an offer like the UK. There's tons of essays you have to write and you need strong extra-curriculars/a hook.

It's different in the US, national decision day is May 1st every year. Applications are currently open for those enrolling in 2025 though, if that's something you're interested in.
Alternatively you could see if any of your options in the UK have study abroad in the US, or find out about transferring options.

Hi @amirlaj

Have you tried to call Brunel and see if the Mechanical Engineering course is still open? You can call and apply over the phone if you're still interested 🙂

Let me know if you have any questions,
