Does student finance cover 5 years of Tuition and Maintenence?

I nearly accepted an offer onto a 1-year foundation course at Aston which requires the usual £9k for tuition fees. I was planning on then doing a 4-year economics course with a placement year after at the same uni, and I’ve found out that I may not be able to get funding for every year? Is this true? And also, if I do a postgraduate qualification after, would I be able to get a loan if I did a 4-year, or even this 5 years? This is really important I get it right
Hi there. Can you please confirm the full name of the course you are looking to study? If you move up to a Masters course you will be eligible for Postgraduate funding as you are going up a level of qualification. Thanks. David

I’m just thinking about it now. I did email and Aston said that I wouldn’t be over my sfe allowance as the placement year is only £1250, but I am under the assumption that you get 3 years and a “gift year” and there isn’t a set allowance? So, let’s say that sfe can’t cover 1 year of my, in total, 5 years and I have to pay out of my own pocket, will sfe make me pay £9250 for the final year of uni? Or will I be £1250 out of pocket as this makes a huge difference. Sorry if this confusing

Hi there,

Thanks - will this be your first time studying at degree-level? For example, have you ever had funding from us for a course in the past?

Thanks, Graeme

Hi, so would my foundation course not qualify for student finance?

Hi there, Is the Foundation year part of the undergraduate course? Or separate? Thanks, Angela

Separate, it allows progression onto a 4-year undergrad

Do you know what I could do if it doesn’t? It requires £9.25k tuition fees for the year. I can’t pay that out of pocket

Hi there, Yes, funding would be available for the Undergraduate course as you are progressing to a higher qualification. Thanks, Angela

Sorry to keep being a pain, but just to clarify this 12 month long foundation separate course at Aston that will progress onto an undergrad will qualify for sfe? Is it classed as an undergrad programme? Thanks

It would be undergraduate funding so you'd apply on an undergraduate application. Thanks, Jason
