Why I chose Politics and International Relations at Liverpool Hope University

I’m Harry, and I come from a town called Walsall, just north of Birmingham in the West Midlands. I chose Politics and International Relations as my subject because I have always had an interest in learning more about the world around me and how it works. I believe it is very important to be politically engaged and knowledgeable, as it always has been. Studying this subject is a way in which I have been able to be both politically engaged and knowledgeable. I settled on Hope due to the range of course combinations advertised. I could not say no to the beautiful campuses available, with direct links to Liverpool, the characterful city which has now become a home to me.

I have enjoyed this course through and through from the beginning until the end. The best part about the course is definitely the range of specialisms the lecturers and tutors have. Learning about the nuances of international relations and organisations, the ins and outs of domestic politics not only in the UK, US and EU, but also across the world, has been eye opening. Furthermore, the lecturers are passionate about what they teach and are always there to advise, educate and assist throughout studies.

I can’t wait to progress from my undergraduate to my postgraduate here at Liverpool Hope University, and further explore the Politics and International Relations that underpin everything in this world. After that, the options are numerous! Going into the Civil Service? Working in an International or Humanitarian Organisation? Becoming an Ambassador? Being elected as a Councillor? Getting involved in political advice or lobbying? Training to be a teacher or lecturer? Academia? This is definitely a course that keeps one’s options open and varied, learning a lot along the way!

If you have any questions about Politics and International Relations as a course (or either part of the course!), Liverpool Hope University, or university life, please ask away!!!
