by how marks is a remark likely to go down??

Hi, I'm possibly getting a non-priority remark (gap year) as I was encouraged by a teacher due to being 4 marks off A* in one of my subjects. They said that they thought our class was marked harshly for this specific component and reached out to some of us. I know that it's possible to go down some marks but how likely is it to go down by 11 marks as that would give me a B? Also it's an essay subject (drama) if that helps. Thanks.

As it is an essay subject it is possible to go up by 4 marks and unlikely to go down 11. But if you have already gotten into university or only need an A to get in then I would suggest leaving it as it is a risk and quite expensive. However if you think you won't be satisfied with an A I would go for it.

Thanks for your help, I haven't decided where to go yet and I got a C in one of my subjects so I'm worried that it might limit me a bit, thought that maybe getting another A* might help me

yes in that case I would suggest especially as some unis/conservatoires accept based on UCAS points and an A* will get you more points

No sorry I was also 5 marks off the next grade for physics but I think it's less likely to move up for sciences because it's less subjective.
I decided not to get it remarked. Maybe you could get the script and ask your teachers to review them and see if they think it's possible

I have had my teacher have a look she said I could easily move up 1 mark on paper 3 and possibly gain the other 5 across paper 1 and 2

i would just say it's expensive if you don't need it I wouldn't do it. But if you think you can definitely get the marks and you need the next grade then definitely go for it because if your grade changes you get your money back.
